OrangeIS seek Desktop Virtualisation Consultants

OrangeIS Enterprise Solutions is looking for a desktop virtualisation consultant to join an existing team of enterprise delivery consultants.  The consultant will be responsible for delivering medium to large scale desktop virtualisation projects as well as following and contributing to detailed design work packages.

The role is focused on Citrix and VMware solutions; however a solid understanding of the broader virtualisation landscape and vendor products such as Quest, Application packaging/virtualisation, RES/Appsense, and Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems are also required.

You will have core expertise in Citrix and VMware products; XenApp, XenDesktop, VMware View, vCenter, vSphere and a Citrix CCA or VMware Certified VCP accreditation is also desirable. A firm understanding of the infrastructure to support virtualisation environments including network and storage technologies is also an advantage.

The successful candidate should come from a solid support background, with previous experience of working in a 3rd Line Support environment.

In addition to your primary job function, you will also be required to work alongside the existing OrangeIS technical team, supporting projects which will range from Microsoft systems implementations through to helping with technical queries.

Role/Principal Accountabilities:

• Day-to-day duties will range from assisting in technical pre-sales activities, through to high-level and detailed design phases to actual migrations and implementations on medium to large projects.
• Capability to design desktop virtualisation environments for small and large scale projects (>200 Desktops). - Provide technical authority and responsibility for mainstream desktop virtualisation solutions.
• Work with the sales team to qualify and quantify multiple desktop virtualisation opportunities.
• Significant client site attendance during project fulfilment activities.
• Qualify hardware and select deployment platforms.
• Analyse business requests and provide solutions to meet requirements.
• Develop and maintain design documentation.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Developed, Designed and Deployed environments with over 200 virtual desktops.
• Proven experience of desktop virtualisation solutions.
• Be able to explain the complexities and implications of desktop virtualisation, migration issues and testing requirements.
• Experience with desktop virtualisation technologies.
• Citrix CCA and VMware VCP Certification.
• Active Directory
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, VPN
• Previous 3rd Line desktop and Server Support
• Must have good customer facing and presentation skills.
• Capability to run technical workshops.

Desirable:

• VMware vSphere 4.0 including vCenter, SRM, LM, & LCM.
• Practical P2V/V2V experience with VMware Converter and PlateSpin Migrate.
• Other virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of SAN storage systems incl HP, Dell, Netapp, HDS arrays.
• Storage virtualisation solutions such as FalconStor and HP Lefthand.
• Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010 experience
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 & 2008
• Knowledge of networking topologies and 10GigE networks.
• ITIL/Operational Readiness aware.

You will be commutable on a daily basis to the City office and client sites as and when required as well as occasional travel to the Coleshill (Birmingham) office.
